An age old question, most people ask when they’re thinking about selling or buying a new home, how do I pick my Realtor? I was also a person that asked this question at one time!
The best advice I can give, is as follows:
A Real Estate Professional approaches any transaction understanding that they have legal obligations that they must implement, such as:
Loyalty to their clients.
Full Disclosure of any pertinent facts.
Competency in their profession as a Realtor.
Accountability for any monetary funds attained in trust for their client.
If a client knows this, it in turn allows the client to be educated on what they should be getting when working with a Real Estate Sales Professional in Ontario (different for each province). The relationship is mandatory for any agent to disclose at the beginning of any business relationship that a Real Estate Sales Professional engages in. “A good Real Estate Professional should be able to either answer your questions or know where to get the answer to you question and provide you with the answer as soon as possible.”
Interview a minimum of 3 Agents before making your decision. Ask the Agents how they will market your property if your selling. Did the agent show up with any research results and free advice – this typically is a good sign-
Did the agent arrive on time for their appointment, early, or later than you expected – Early and on time are good signs. Late is a sign of a disorganized agent.
Do they guarantee their work? If they do, it once again is a good sign of confidence and reliability!
Do they have a specific plan on what they will be doing with you, and what results they plan on attaining for you, and by when?
Can you work with them?
Do you like them?
Usually Realtors become close friends of the family, if they are full time and active in Real Estate, because any questions may be answered by a Realtor or his team members/colleagues, regarding your home.
