The Saskatchewan government has noted that economic growth has helped bring about the largest year-over-year population increase seen in the province in more than five decades.
People are moving to Saskatchewan for work, and have caused the population to jump by 16,509, between July 2008 and July 2009.
This is the biggest increase in a 12 month period since 1952 – 1953. It has also been the first time in 22 years since the population has topped 1,030,000 mark.
The data released by Statistics Canada reseals that more than 2,660 people moved to Saskatchewan from other countries since the second quarter of 2009. This proves that people are finding out that the other cities in Canada have a lot to offer them.
Saskatchewan was not the only city which has been welcoming people.
Statistics Canada notes that all four provinces in Western Canada has recorded higher demographic growth than the national average from April to June, with Alberta growing the fastest.
I for one am glad to see people are finding out that the big cities in Canada are not the only ones to have something to offer them.
As it stands, Saskatchewan is offering more work than before, especially with the amount of recreational infrastructure projects happening.
Alberta is not falling behind in that department, and as it is growing the fastest it is only a matter of time before records are broken.
