The Government of Canada announced on September 22nd, that the Torn of Kinistino has been approved for an infrastructure loan as part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
The Town of Kinistino has been approved for more than $300,000 in a low cost loan from Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation`s (CMHC`s) Municipal Infrastructure Lending Program (MILP). This will create new subdivision.
The work will include installation of water and waste services, power generation, and roadway and curb construction within the new residential neighbourhood.
This project is not only good news for the Torn of Kinistino but for Saskatchewan as well; it opens possibilities for municipalities of all sizes as it meets housing related infrastructure needs as well as creating much needed jobs.
This loan allows the Town of Kinistino to offer the new subdivision residential lots to be sold a reasonable price, further attracting home buyers.
Another reason this low cost loan is great, is because the Town of Kinistino is preparing for future growth as a result of the close proximity to the proposed Shore Diamond Mine.
Projects that are eligible infrastructure related housing services, such as water, power generation, and waster services. Other projects include local transportation infrastructure within and into residential areas such as roads, sidewalks, lighting and green space.
