The Governments of Canada and Saskatchewan will be investing in upgrades water treatment facilities and roads in the communities of St. Walburg, Vibank and the rural municipality of Beaver River.
This project was announced on September 25th, and hopes to help ensure that Canada will come out of the current economic uncertainty stronger than before.
Both the Government of Canada and Saskatchewan Government are making key investments to help strengthen communities and create jobs.
The shared federal and provincial investment is almost $2.4 million. This will result in upgrades to the water treatment plant in St. Walburg; construction of a new well and reserve osmosis treatment system in Vibank; and upgrades to Hinterland Road in the rural municipality of Beaver River.
The funding for these projects are allocated from the Canada-Saskatchewan Municipal Rural Infrastructure Fund (MRIF).
The respective communities will also contribute a total of $3 million to these infrastructure projects.
Due to the economic downturn, the Government of Canada has accelerated and expanded its investments for new infrastructure funding.
Through the Building Canada Plan, both the governments of Canada and Saskatchewan have taken the steps necessary to get work started faster and money moving for the targeted infrastructure projects in the Saskatchewan communities.
