Over the next 1 ½ years, the 1927 production building, otherwise known as Building Seven will be partially reconstructed to be host to major events and as an outdoor events plaza.

The National Historic Site has been in transition for the last 2 years. The Friends of Medalta Society welcomes the commitment made by the Western Economic Diversification’s Community Adjustment to complete two or more restoration projects, totalling more than $3 million.

Building Seven’s area is currently being used as an outdoor events courtyard as the building was lost to fire, which occurred over a year ago.

A complete restoration will occur in the main building, providing a main entrant, visitor centre and exhibit gallery by the end of March 2011.

Over $10 million has been raised for the Medalta restoration project since 2004, however there is still much work ahead.

The Western diversification fund is a two year, $1 billion national program that is designed to provide economic stimulus by supporting projects. It will ultimately be able to create jobs and maintain employment in rural areas.
