
With funding from the Federal, Provincial and Municipal levels of Government, residents of Manitoba will soon have nine new recreational infrastructure projects.
On September 21st, it was announced that funding for these new recreational projects will create jobs in Winnipeg and several rural Manitoba communities.
The investments are part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan, and it will be a great benefit to the communities and economy.
The total cost of the projects is $5,667,003; with $783,916 being provided through the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program as part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
The projects announced range from community centre redevelopment in Winnipeg to restoration of a park in Northern Manitoba and arena renovations in several Manitoba communities.
Manitoba will be providing a total of $2,154,880 of funding and the municipal governments will be providing a total of $2,497,000.
The Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program will invest a total of $500 million into recreational facilities across Canada over a two year period. This will be providing temporary economic stimulus that will help reduce the impacts that global recession whilst renewing, upgrading and expanding recreational infrastructure in Canadian communities.
The recent announcement shows the important steps that Manitoba is taking in order to support the economic growth as it invests $1.6 billion this year into infrastructure alone to help stimulate the economy.
