1222439 cusworth hall 2 135x100 Housing Options for Burin SeniorsBurin Peninsula Seniors now have access to a new affordable housing complex built by the Marystown Kinsmen, which is a result of $600,000 in both federal and provincial funding under the Canada – Newfoundland and Labrador Affordable Housing Program.

The construction of this housing complex is to provide and meet the current needs of seniors in Burin areas. It gives a great opportunity for anyone who requires housing assistance and allow them to remain close to their family and friends.

The government will continue to invest in improvements to exist in social housing both in Newfoundland and Labrador, also across Canada, as a means to stimulate out economy during the global recession.

The Marystown Kinsmen Manor for Seniors consists of two, one-bedroom units and four, two-bedroom units. One of which is fully accessible. Additional to the funding provided under the Canada – Newfoundland and Labrador Affordable Housing Program, CMHC has provided $20,000 in seed funding to Marystown Kinsmen during the initial planning stages.

This housing project will definitely make an impact and positive difference in people’s lives.

The Marystown Kinsmen Manor for Seniors is an excellent example of strengthened partnerships in action, and how these partnerships can help attain the goal of providing more viable and affordable housing options for lower income households throughout Newfoundland.
