City of Surrey Moves Foward with Newton Recreation Ceentre Improvments
The City of Surrey will be moving forward with improvements to the Newton Recreation Centre. These improvements are able to get done with the help of the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program, a major job-creating investment from Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
On September 23rd, it was announced that federal funding for the project will be provided and will create jobs for Surrey.
These kinds of investments help put Canadians to work and encourage greater physical participation in physical activity, not to mention the use of recreational facilities and ensure that communities across the West have access to essential infrastructure that is needed for today and for the future.
The funding provided by the Recreation Infrastructure Canada (RInC) totals $133,333 and is part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
The City of Surrey will be renovating and upgrading the Newtown Recreation Centre’s preschool room, hallways, bathrooms and common areas. This project will be enhancing the recreation spaces for a wide range of programs which will help accommodate the growing needs of Surrey’s growing population.
There is a growing demand for recreation services in the Newton area, and with this project underway it is great to see this demand satisfied.
This is among the many projects that the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program will be funding; overall they will be investing a total of $500 million in recreational facilities across Canada over a two year period.
