Among the new building permits issued in August, one has allowed Dominion Construction to conduct $1.56 million in renovations to the Moose Jaw Union Hospital intensive care unit.
This was only one of the 32 building permits issued by city hall last month, for a construction totalling approximately $6.95 million. In August 2008, the city had issued 42 building permits for construction, which was worth about $5.18 million. With 10 less building permits, construction totalled $1.77 million more.
The most valuable permit in August 2009 was for construction which was worth about $1.64 million, which is aimed at renovating Conexus Credit Union at 80 High St. W.
The city of Moose Jaw had also reissued 5 residential building permits last months.
By the end of August, Moose Jaw has issued a total of 213 building permits for 2009, for construction worth a total of approximately $72.71 million. During the same time period last year, Moose Jaw had issued a total of 268 permits for construction worth about $40.67 million.
As you can see, with 55 less building permits issued, the construction worth is almost double for August 2009. With the trend we are seeing, the second half of 2009 will be sure to bring more permits and more construction worth, further improving on last year’s figures.
