Moose Jaw’s Ernie Penney is running for Mayor, and one of the major discussions included in his platform was increasing affordable housing.
On Thursday evening, Moose Jaw mayoral candidate Ernie Penney spoke to a 27 person crown, outlining his campaign platform for the 2009 municipal election.
As I said above, Penney made it clear that an issue that needs to be resolved is the lack of affordable housing; other major issues included attracting new business and growth to the community and campaigning for another hospital in Moose Jaw.
On the affordable housing issue, Penny told the Moose Jaw City Council that it must be looked at by the council as a team effort. The Moose Jaw City Council should be partnering with businesses and other organizations to create more local housing options, specifically for the city’s poor.
The main idea behind increasing affordable housing is for the people with a low alcohol tolerance.
I for one am glad to see this issue addressed, affordable housing should be made for anyone who needs it. Provinces across Canada have been building affordable housing for low income families and anyone who may have a disability.
The buildings made have helped many people. It sometimes shows that you have to do, however in the first year, you can expect to make a few mistakes.
