All-purpose cleaner: Combine 500 millilitres (2 cups) distilled white vinegar with 500 millilitres (2 cups) water in a spray bottle. Add a few drops of essential oil if desired. (Do not use on limestone or marble.)
Another all-purpose cleaner: Dissolve 45 millilitres (3 tablespoons) of baking soda in (1 1/4 cups) of warm water. Transfer to a spray bottle to use.
Mix Vinegar and salt for a good surface Cleaner. Pour some baking soda and vinegar on a damp sponge, it will clean and deodorize all kitchen and bathroom surfaces
Natural deodorizer: Place partially filled saucers of vinegar around the room. Boil 15 milliliters (1 tablespoon) of vinegar in 250 milliliters (1 cup) of water to eliminate unpleasant cooking odours. Baking soda is excellent for absorbing odours.
Removing crayon marks: Crayon marks on the floor or table can be removed by rubbing them with some toothpaste on a damp cloth. Don’t use this on wallpaper or porous surfaces.
Carpet deodorizer: Sprinkle with baking soda (or cornstarch), let it sit for 30 minutes and vacuum
Kitchen cleaner: Use baking soda on non-scratch surfaces and a vinegar-water mixture on other surfaces. Apply to rag or directly to countertop for cleaning. (Do not use vinegar to clean limestone or marble surfaces.)
Microwave cleaner: Place lemon slices in a microwave-safe dish and at least 250 millilitres (1 cup) of water. Heat on high for 3 minutes, let it sit for 3 minutes without opening microwave door, then open the door and wipe down the insides.
Oven cleaner: Make a paste of baking soda, salt and hot water.
Greener oven cleaner: While the oven is still warm, pour some salt on grimy areas. If the areas are dry, dampen with water before applying the salt. When the oven cools down, scrape the grime off and wash clean. Spray grimy areas with water or vinegar-water and apply a layer of baking soda. Rub gently with fine steel wool and wipe off. Rinse with water and wipe dry.Garbage disposal cleaner: Add citrus peel to eliminate odours. Or freeze vinegar in ice cube trays (250 millilitres/1 cup of vinegar per tray, then filled with water) and drop a few down the disposal. The ice will sharpen the blades, too.
Wood floor cleaner: Apply a thin coat of 1:1 olive oil and vinegar and rub well.
Tile and tub cleaner: Mix 400 millilitres (1 2/3 cups) baking soda, 125 millilitres (1/2 cup) liquid soap and 125 millilitres (1/2 cup) water, then add 30 millilitres (2 tablespoons) vinegar (add last or it will react to the baking soda).Toilet bowl cleaner: Sprinkle in some baking soda, let sit, then clean with toilet brush.
Window cleaner: 45 millilitres (3 tablespoons) vinegar per (1 1 /4 cups) water in a spray bottle.
Laundry starch: Dissolve 15 Milliliters (1 tablespoon) of cornstarch in 500 milliliters (2 cups) of cold water. Place in a spray bottle. Shake well before using. Make sure to label this so you don’t use it for cleaning.
