The best way to make your deck look great is by staining it.

I have outlined 4 easy steps anyone can take to stain their deck, giving it a fresh look.

Step 1: Gather Appropriate Tools and Materials

To properly stain your deck you need to go out and by the proper tools to get the job done. Here is what you will need, a Hand-pumped sprayer, Stain brush, Paint roller, Power sprayer, Roller Extension and power washer.

The materials you will need are roller covers, a drop cloth and of course the deck stain.

Step 2: Wash the Deck

Before you begin staining your deck you have to properly clean it first. To do this, take the power washer and spray the entire deck. Wash it thoroughly and allow it to dry before moving on to step 3.

Step 3: Spray on Finish

Apply deck stain material with a sprayer; for small deck areas, use a hand pumped unit or a roller and brush. Use a roller on the deck after spraying to force finish into the word. This is needed to spread out any pooled areas of material.

Step 4: Brushing the End Grain

With a brush in hand, use it to put the stain into end grain, seams and gaps between boards. Brush vertical surfaces to remove any drips. When brushing on end grains, it will absorb the stain more so than other areas; you will have to apply more to get the job done properly.

By following these easy steps, you will be able to completely stain your deck, giving it the look it deserves.
