Medicine Hat will Examine Parks and New Facilities
The City of Medicine Hat plans on spending $275,000 to do a complete inventory of its recreation facilities. This includes outdoor rinks, soccer fields, and swimming pools.
This has been long overdue as it has been 20 years since the City of Medicine Hat last conducted an examination of the recreation services it offers.
It is time to get up to date information on the recreation services the City of Medicine Hat offers, and this was brought to the City’s public service committee yesterday by Randy Taves, Recreation and Leisure Services Manager.
With the many new sports and activities coming all the time, and the demand on the public taxpayers to provide services, it is only fair that the City of Medicine Hat does what it can to ensure everything is up to code and there is enough services for everyone to enjoy in the City of Medicine Hat.
It has been noted that there is an obvious need for an indoor skating arena in the South Ridge area, while with the popularity of soccer coming, the City of Medicine Hat should consider creating more indoor and outdoor soccer facilities noted Committee Chair Graham Kelly.
The money for the projects has been approved in the 2010 Parks and Outdoor Recreation budget, and in the 2011 Community Development budget.
