A key feature of your yard, is your lawn; how it is kept says a lot about you and the time you spend managing your home.Maintaining your lawn in peak condition is not an easy task. In order to help you make your lawn perfect I am ready to provide you with these 5 tips.

1. Mow Frequently
The key to keeping your lawn green is frequently cutting. This forces your lawn to grow thick and keep the weeds away. To ensure your lawn is cut properly you have to the blades sharp.

2. Do not Take too much off the Top
A lawn which is tightly trimmed does look great, but at the same time grass cut short will respond by growing faster. A rule that has spread around is to not cut more than one third the length of the grass. Any lower, you will be hurting your lawn and it will then take a few weeks to recover.

3. Wet Lawns Are Never Mowed
You should be mowing a wet lawn because it will not only clog up your lawn mower but the water will compact the soil making it hard for the roots to breathe. When this happens you will see grass dying and brown spots forming on your lawn

4. Water Your Lawn
You should be watering your lawn regularly; if you have an irrigation system then this will be an easy task as it will be set up for you.

If you use sprinklers, be sure to cover every inch of your lawn, or you will have parts of your lawn not getting enough water causing it to slowly die.

Do not overwater your lawn, and do not water at night. You should allow the grass to dry before morning and if you want to water early, do it in the morning.

5. Fertilizer
Using fertilizer can stimulate fast growth when you need it, which in turn results in more mowing. Over fertilization is not needed and can harm the environment.

Distribute the fertilizer evenly either with your hand or a small wheel spreader.

A good fertilizer to use is the cut grass from when you mow your lawn. Well this only works if you mow frequently, once a week is ideal and the grass is too short to be picked up.

Keeping a green lawn definitely takes some effort but once you have the basics down you will find yourself doing this process with ease.
