Have you ever looked around your home and wondered what else you can do to make your house more energy efficient? Sure you can turn off lights, install programmable thermostats, fix dripping faucets, install low flow toilets, not run the water while loading the dish washer or brushing your teeth but what else can you do to save energy and dollars.
I know as I look around my 30 plus year old home there is truly room for improvement, especially in such areas as windows, insulation and air sealing to improve the air tightness of our house.
We are all becoming more energy conscience and realizing that we need to do improvements on our homes to conserve energy and water, so why not get paid to upgrade our homes.
Natural Resources Canada is offering a new residential energy efficiency assessment service to owners of single family homes. Under the ecoEnergy Retrofit program property owners may qualify for federal grants by improving the energy efficiency of their homes and reducing their home’s impact on the environment.
NRCan-certified energy advisors conduct a detailed on-site assessment of your home’s energy use from the attic down to the basement. They then provide you with a personalized report, including a checklist of recommended retrofits to improve the energy efficiency of your home. The report also shows the grant amounts for each eligible upgrade that you can receive by carrying out these energy-saving upgrades up to a maximum of $5,000.00.
Qualified improvements covered under the ecoENERGY program:
•1. Heating Systems
•2. Ventilation Systems
•3. Cooling systems (Replacement only)
