As the green revolution continues to spread throughout your home, your kitchen should not be a place left out.

By following the tips I have created, you should be able to create a green kitchen that respects the earth.

1.       Outfitting your Kitchen with Eco-Friendly Materials

There are a multitude of eco-friendly materials you can use in your kitchen. These materials are products made from plants that be sustainably harvested.

For example, when replacing your kitchen cabinets, select products that are made by companies who use wheat board or wood that is certified to have been harvested sustainably. Do not use wood composite or particle board as it tends to release off-gassing chemicals in to the air.

2.       Breathing Cleaner Air

When buying stains, finishes and glues, purchase products that do not pollute the air with off-gassing chemicals called VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds). You can find Low- and no- VOC paints available just about anywhere. This will help reduce the amount of airborne toxins.

3.       Being Energy Efficient

It is an easy task to accomplish, simply find Energy Star appliances. These appliances have all passes an energy efficiency test, which will ultimately save you money as they cost 20% less to run, compared to older models.

4.       Recycling

We all sort out garbage into the respective recycling bins, however at times we might just put everything together simply because we might be too tired to care. Make it simpler to recycle by purchases a pre=assembled recycling centre. You will have an organized method to throwing away your glass, paper and waste products.

Creating a green kitchen might cost a bit more than you want to spend, however by doing so you are helping better the environment for future generations. The generations to come will be your grand children, great grandchildren and so on; do not leave them a mess they are forced to clean up.
