When it comes to lighting, there are two types – natural and artificial. Natural lighting comes from sunlight and moonlight whereas Artificial lighting comes lamps, light fixtures and any other forms of electrical lights.With both types of lighting there are various pros and cons you should be aware of when you want to show your house. I will be discussing the reasoning behind natural light and room colors which will be sure to help you show your home better.
Light can affect the tone and colors of a room ingeniously; this is why you need to keep in mind the location of windows when choosing paint colors.
With each type of light it can change the appearance and perception of colors in ways that will play with your mind when it comes to interior design.
Keep the following in mind when you are choosing color schemes:
• North facing rooms will receive less sunlight; the light received will be cooler. To offset this you should be choosing warm colors in the room. The colors that are considered to be “warm” are colors of red, orange and yellow.
• South facing rooms will receive a lot more light that is warmer. In order to balance this you should be picking cool colors. Colors are considered to be “cool” are generally blue, green and violet.
• East facing rooms will have the morning sun – casting a yellow glow. Try to stay away from too much orange or yellow in these rooms.
• West facing rooms will receive warm light from the setting sun – casting an orange-red glow. Try to stay away from orange or red in your color scheme.
Natural Light distributes the spectrum of colors evenly allowing you to make mistakes with distinguishing colors in a room where natural light is constantly pouring in. With this said it will allow your paint color to be shown great once you have chosen the right color for each room.
