13 135x100 Advantages of XeriscapingI have spoken for the past week about xeriscaping and how you can help create a xeriscape by following a few principals.Today I will touch upon the advantages of having a xeriscape in a little more detail and hopefully it will push you into working on your yard to create a xeriscape.

The main advantage of having a xeriscape is for the lower water consumption. You will have to spend less time watering your yard. You will be able to save money as you will realize how much less time you will spend watering your yard.

This is partially due to the fact that when it rains the water will be able to be used more efficiently and the plants you have will have grown long enough roots to find the food it needs to sustain itself.

Another great benefit is the time you save on maintenance, by having a xeriscape you will be making gardening simpler and less stressful for yourself. With less time needed to spend watering and taking care of your plants in general you will have more time to spend with your family.

Whenever there are water restrictions, xeriscape plants tend to survive as they can adapt in these types of situations. Traditional plants might not be able to adapt in these conditions, leaving you with withered plants in your garden beds.

With xeriscaping you are ensuring your gardens longevity by making it strong enough to survive even the harshest conditions.

Keep in mind, it will take some effort from you to create a xeriscape, however once it is done you will find yourself with a self sufficient garden and your water bill decreasing slightly over time.
