No matter what renovation you are doing, whether it is adding a new room or retrofitting a kitchen, you will probably be demolishing and building new walls and/ or installing wiring, plumbing, flooring and appliances. These tasks would normally be taken by professional contractors, and they always wear the proper protective equipment.

Why don’t you?

Here are renovation essentials everyone should be wearing when undertaking any home renovation.

• Protective Gloves

Protect your hands from cuts and increase your grip. Your hands are your most important tools, without them you will never be able to complete the project.

• Protective Eyewear

Protect yourself from dust, first and flying debris. You can make many mistakes in a project if you are unable to see clearly when dust is up in the air.

• Hard Hat

It might seem excessive, but when you are working on larger renovations, such as your basement or the addition of a room it is possible to have falling debris. Protect yourself from this and ensure your safety.

• Safety Footwear

By having ant-slip soles, you are providing traction on ladders and surfaces your casual shoes will not. Safety boots will protect your feet from hazards such as sharp nails, glass, power tools, etc. Ensure your footwear features a safety toe, to protect yourself from fall debris.

These are the essentials everyone needs when doing any home renovation project; however there are specific equipment for certain jobs. When undertaking a renovation, ask the salesman at the hardware store where you are buying supplies from. They will be able to point you in the right direction for any specific safety equipment you will need.
